Now that the weather is cooling down, and is down right cold at times, it's time to break out the hot chocolate!! We aren't coffee drinkers in our home, but we definitely love a nice warm mug full of hot cocoa anytime of the day.
With dairy allergies in our home, I've been working on a dairy-free version of the hot cocoa mixes you can buy in the store. Something that tastes every bit as good as the real thing, but is completely dairy-free. My kids agree that this recipe is a keeper!
Ingredients:
3/4 cup coconut milk powder
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup powdered sugar
pinch of salt
Sift all ingredients together and combine. Store in an air tight container.
To mix your hot chocolate simply warm 8 oz of your milk of choice (or water) on the stove top. Add in 2 TBSP of hot cocoa mix and whisk until it reaches your desired temperature. Enjoy!
Optional add-ins:
• chocolate chips
• marshmallows
• crushed up candy cane bits
• dairy-free whipped cream
• dairy-free flavored creamer
