DIY Giant Teak Cutting Board

If you have hopped on the bread making bandwagon, or if you like to make roll out cookies, you are going to LOVE just how easy it is to make your own giant teak cutting board... for around $50!! Yep, you read that right, 50 big ones!

I love to make bread. I love being able to control what does (and does not) go into my bread. I love the smell of homemade bread when it's baking. I love that my kids are willing to try new flavors if I sneak it into a loaf of bread, ha!

5 Tips to Complete Your Unfinished Projects

When my now 8 year old was born, my husband took two weeks off of work to help out with our older two children and to give me some much needed time to rest and look after our new bundle of joy. On his last day home from work, he decided to tackle a small bathroom renovation that I'd been begging for (and had actually started on my own a few weeks prior to baby's arrival -- thanks to some nesting urges).

The project? Adding some bead board paneling to the bottom half of the walls in our tiny bathroom. Could it have been completed on the 3-day weekend? Of course it could... it's a tiny bathroom. Did it get done? Nope. That bathroom project drug out for the next 5 years! All the paneling was up, but the nails hadn't been hammered in completely and the patching, caulking, and painting needed to be finished. I had finally had enough and one day just worked on all those little things and got it done.

Why is it so hard to finish projects that we start? Maybe it's that we lose interest in the project. Maybe it gets to a point where we can no longer tackle it alone. Maybe it's because something more pressing comes up and the last project is put on the back burner. Today's blog post is all about how to finish those kinds of projects.

How to Paint a Large Gather Wood Sign

I absolutely LOVE changing out my wood signs for the seasons and holidays. As a DIY-er it's hard to justify going to Hobby Lobby or Joann and purchasing a cheaply made wood sign. Granted, they are definitely affordable, and way easier ... but, making something yourself for your home is the best feeling in the world (and you know that the quality is top notch!).

If you've been wanting a large wood sign for your home, read on and see just how easy it is to create one on your own.

DIY Fabric and Twine Ball Decor

If you are like me, you have lots of extra craft supplies laying around your home. I will admit, I am a bit of a craft hoarder... especially when it comes to fabric. So, I decided to use up some of those materials I have taking up space in my office and create something fun for the holidays!

Do I Really Have to Go? Printable BINGO Cards

Tell me I am not the only one who dreads taking kids out to run errands.... I love spending time with my children, don't get me wrong, but for some reason, the second we get out in public they turn in to different little people.

They whine, they fight, they're hungry, they're bored, they don't want to go, their feet hurt, someone poked them, "they're looking at me"... and so on. Today I had to take my kiddos out for a quick errand, so I thought I'd make something fun for them to do while I shop.

DIY Paint Review -- Painted Dresser Tutorial

Before we purchased our "fixer upper" home, my husband and I were managers of a small apartment complex near a local college. We managed the apartments there for almost 4 years before we had saved up enough to purchase our first (and current) home.

One of the benefits to being the managers was checking out what our renters left behind after they moved. We collected a few pieces of furniture over the few years we were there and one of the best ones we ever found was a beautiful, solid wood, HEAVY, dresser. We used it in our tiny master bedroom before moving out here. It has 6 drawers on the sides, and three drawers in the middle door. It's old and beautiful.

But, over the years the top part, which was laminate, was starting to peel off. One of the sides had built in tie/belt hooks ... that we never used. It needed a little TLC. So, when I decided to redo our master bedroom, I also decided this dresser needed an overhaul.

Chalkboard Style Wood Sign Tutorial

If you follow home decor on Instagram, you are sure to have seen the chalkboard finished wood signs. You know, the ones that cost A LOT of money and hang over influencers fireplaces and beds. What if I told you that you could get the same look at home by doing a simple DIY?

Here's how to do it:

FRIDAY FREEBIE: Together is our Favorite Place to Be

With the self quarantine recommendation all over the country (US), we are all spending A LOT more time together with our families. While it may not be fun all the time, rest assured you are in good company. Most of us stay at home moms who have been plunged into the home schooling world are right there in the trenches with you.

As a mom of 4 (one now a teenager), everyday isn't exactly picture perfect. There have been lots of tears, some yelling (though I hate to admit it), fighting, time outs, and whining. BUT, there have also been extra snuggles, more family games, and more of us coming together to try and get through this hard part of life right now.

All that to say, that today felt like the perfect day to start a new series here on the blog. I'm calling it FRIDAY FREEBIE. What it means is that every Friday (because I will probably only be able to post to the blog on Fridays until kids go back to school...) I will be sharing a freebie. It may be a craft project, a how to, a printable, or anything else I can come up with that I think you guys might enjoy.

Today's FREEBIE is a printable, an svg, and instructions on how to easily turn it into a wood sign! So, let's get started.

DIY Vinyl Stencil Pillow Cover

This fun and easy craft project is something you can get done in just a few hours. You can give them away as gifts, or use them to decorate your own home.

If you like to sew, you can go full DIY and sew your own pillow cover (like I did), or you can buy a white cotton cover from IKEA or Amazon and make the project even easier! I used a 100% cotton canvas fabric to create my cover.

DIY Bath Salt Recipes and Mason Jar Lid Covers

You know how sometimes you want to give someone a meaningful gift, but you have no idea where to start? Yup, that's how I feel a lot of the time at birthday, and especially when Teacher Appreciation week rolls around.

When I first got our shipment of these small wooden scoops, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with them. Bath salts.

New to The Shop - SVG and Digital Files

We are bringing back our popular wood signs, but we also wanted to share some of our own designs with you guys. Those of you who love to make things for your own home, or for others, know how hard it is to find just the right design.

In our shop, we will now be offering our own svg and digital files for sale. Now, you can instantly download your design and use it to create your own wood signs or prints. We will be sharing some of our fun designs on the blog and on our YouTube channel so you can see some examples of how to use them.

In the meantime... you can take a look at a few of the designs we already have up in our shop

Elevated Herb Garden Building Plans

Now that our weather is warming up, we have been working hard to get our Spring and Summer garden going. Last week we added new soil to our raised boxes and planted new plants and seeds.

Mini Bathroom Renovation

About two months ago we had a MAJOR plumbing problem in our bathrooms. If you follow us on Instagram you probably remember seeing our horrifying pictures and stories about our two days of problems.

Long story short, the plumber had to rip out the bath tub and surround in our master bathroom. It is going to cost a few thousand dollars to repair the plumbing under our slab floor -- because it was installed wrong nearly 60 years ago when the house was built. Lucky us!

I have been dreaming of what I can do in this tiny bathroom since then, and saving things like crazy on Pinterest (feel free to take a look at my board... it's gorgeous!). But, we found out last week that the company my husband works for it being closed and he's out of a job as of tomorrow. So, the bathroom project has been put on hold until we can find him a new job and save up the money for it.

The problem is we still had this ugly, open wall that I have to stare at every morning when I get ready for the day, and every time I go into my bathroom. So, I decided this week that I had seen enough of that ugly space, and was taking matters into my own hands!

Kids Photo Book Tips, Ideas, and Cheat Sheet

Kids grow up so fast, don't they? It seems like just yesterday I was bringing our oldest child (now 11 years old) home from the hospital, earning what it was like to function on no sleep, take care of a newborn, and work (yes, I had to work too!). Back when I only had two kids, or even three kids, I had more time to spend with them and came up with some pretty creative ideas!

I was looking through some old photos the other day and found this mosaic of photos I had taken:

DIY Wood Sign with Vinyl Stencil

Painted wood signs are a hot new trend in farmhouse, rustic, and country style decor. If you go on Etsy and search for "wood signs" you will get upwards of 250 PAGES full of signs for sale. Some have vinyl lettering on painted wood, but those aren't nearly as popular as the all painted wood signs.

BUT, if you struggle like I do with painting a straight line, it can be a daunting task to try and make your own wood sign. That's where products like our vinyl stencils come in to play. They make wood signs an "easy peasy lemon squeezy" kind of project!

Want to see just how easy it is to use one of our vinyl stencils to create your own hand painted wood sign? Check out the latest video we added to our YouTube channel and see for yourself!

Now do you believe me? Whether you buy a vinyl stencil from us, or use your own vinyl cutter and design to create your own sign, I hope that you have discovered just how easy it can be to add a little homemade farmhouse touch to your decor!

* If you would rather purchase a painted wood sign, you can find them in our Etsy Shop.

How To: DIY Faux Shiplap Wall

I know I may be a little late on the bandwagon on this one, but it took a LONG time to convince my husband that we should shiplap anything. If it were solely up to me, I would shiplap all the walls! BUT, in order to try and convince my husband that we want to shiplap a few more of our walls, I tackled one of the smallest walls in our little home.
