Fabric Closet Makeover

I have a new addiction. Fabric. I love getting new fabric and brainstorming all the fun things I could make with it. But, it has started to take over my house. A couple months ago I got these really cool standing closets from some friends who were moving across the country. I decided to make them my fabric and finished KdBuggie Boutique products closets. Even still ... I felt completely unorganized... until yesterday!! I found a tutorial from The Little Green Bean on how to make your own mini fabric bolts ... and I took my fabric closet from this:
To this!!!

I absolutely love it!!! I can totally see all the fabric I have at a quick glance. I haven't organized it exactly the way I want it yet... and I need to go buy more supplies to make more mini bolts... but it is definitely the start of something great!!!

One day I came across this shop : Handmade by Nikki
Nikki said:
"I love to create jewelry and accessories with a variety of materials, and my designs are often inspired by nature, vibrant colors, and every-day happenings around me. I launched my Etsy shop in November of last year and I'm enjoying every minute of it!! Many of my silver pendants and charms are created with Precious Metal Clay, and earth-friendly material composed of recycled silver and organic clay binder. When heated to high temperatures the binder burns away and it becomes 99.9% silver."
Her jewelry and hair flowers are super stylish! I am thrilled that she is willing to share one of her necklaces with one lucky follower!
Here is a small sampling of what she has to offer in her store.

This cute wrap bracelet also functions as a super stylish head wrap! It looks amazing either way .. and I totally LOVE versatility!!!
This is her Vintage Skeleton Key with Peace Sign and Smoky Quartz Briolette Necklace. So gorgeous!!
It is featured on a 25 inch chain -- but she can shorten it if you prefer.
Her Olive Branch Pendant is another great necklace in her shop. This simple design is sure to liven up any outfit!!

Here is the necklace that she has graciously offered to one lucky follower!!

Lemon Jasper Aqua Shell Necklace
A lemon jasper bead, aqua shell drop, and a yellow chalcedony bead hang on a sterling silver ring. The pendant is strung on a brown cotton cord with an adjustable sterling silver lobster clasp. A small blue chalcedony drop is attached to the end of the clasp to accent the back of your neck as well.

These calming colors come together to create a gorgeous, simple, and natural accessory.

Welcome to all your new friends stopping by from various blog hops today! Happy Friday!!! I am spending the day today with my family at the Happiest Place on Earth -- yes, Disneyland! You can take a look at the blog hops I'm joining today, here.
Don't forget to enter in my Munchie Mugs giveaway here. If you have a toddler or a soon-to-be toddler in your house (or even one that comes to visit) you won't want to miss this!!

I decided I wanted to start doing a weekly food post. I thought it might be fun to share some of my cooking tips and ideas with bloggy-land! So, here goes my first one:

Wednesday night at a church meeting I participated in a class to learn the fine art of bread making. The teacher doesn't believe in modern technology and insisted that bread needed to be made by hand (or in her case a Cuisinart). As a mom of two little rugrats, I don't always find the old-fashioned-way to be the most efficient! Don't get me wrong, I love doing things the old way... sometimes... but only when I have the time.

Most of the recipes I got on Wednesday contain milk and gobs of butter... both of which would send my son to the emergency room. So, I pulled out the little recipe book that came with my bread machine and found a recipe that was dairy free.

Basic White/French Bread
(makes a 1-1/2 lb. loaf)
1-1/8 c. warm water (I learned it needs to be about baby bath water warm)
1-1/2 T vegetable oil
1-1/2 t salt
3 c all purpose flour
2 t active dry yeast

**make sure if you use your bread maker that you put these ingredients in your machine in that order!!!

I set my machine on the dough cycle, and about 2 hrs later this is what I had. Now, I could have mixed it in a kitchen-aid (but I don't have counter space in my kitchen for that and the bread maker) or by hand and it would have gone a lot faster... but this way I was able to keep my kitchen - and kids - from being covered in flour, and I got other things done. I am a HUGE FAN of multi-tasking!!!
Then I enlisted the help of my 3 year-old!! She loved helping. She got out her little apron and the "big step stool" (as she calls it) and got to work. Anything I can do to spend time with my kids and be productive is just icing on the cake! Grab a little bowl and put some flour in it. Tear off a small orange sized piece of dough, cover it in flour to keep from sticking to your hands, roll it in a ball, then stretch that ball - kinda like pizza dough.
Meanwhile, heat up some oil in a skillet on med-low. Once you make your little pizza, carefully drop it in the hot oil. Be careful so it doesn't splash... made that mistake myself!

Keep making and adding more little pizzas. It only takes about a minute or so to turn golden brown. Flip it over and cook the other side.

While those are cooking, grab a paper plate (or whatever you want to use -- doesn't really matter, I just had some paper plates on hand) and put a paper towel on top. Take out your beautiful fried bread and layer them on the paper towel. Top with another paper towel.
Roll, flatten, fry, repeat!!

I decided to try something a little fun and dug out my Mickey Mouse cookie cutter. After flattening the bread dough I cut out the Mickey shape and fried it. It was super cute!! Next time I might make them all Mickey's!!! My kids loved it!

The finished, fried Mickey! Cute, right?

Once they are done you can top them with just about anything!! We chose jam, jelly, and cheese. At my meeting I tried it with cream cheese and jam... delicious!!! I bet peanut butter would be great too!! The possibilities are endless!!!

I also tried rolling some dough into a little snake and frying it -- thinking that my son might like to dip his bread. He has taken lately to being a dip-a-holic! Everything gets dipped -- whether it should, or not!

We put some cheddar cheese on Mickey. It was super tasty!! My daughter gobbled most of it up, then asked to try mine and gave me a piece of hers to trade for it. So cute!

Now, I know that fried foods aren't all that great for you, but every once in a while it's a nice treat! You can always use frying oils that are better for you, and you can use probably just about any bread recipe. So, if you are looking to cute the fat, try a whole wheat bread dough, or one with oats and grains in it! Let me know if you try something new, I'd love to know how it turned out!!!!

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Munchie Mugs Review and Giveaway

Thanks to everyone who entered my blog hop yesterday!! If you haven't entered yet, you can still link up here. For those of you stopping by the first time from various blog hops... welcome!! Today I am hopping on these blogs.

On to much more exciting news... I think I have finally found the most awesome toddler product around! It's the Muchie Mug!!

Giveaway is now closed -- winner will be announced on Wednesday!!

Here is what my house usually looks like -- 10 times a day -- 7 days a week!! I was getting a little tired of the constant clean-up.

My son is a mischevious 18 month-old (as most are) and has already figured out how to use his bottom teeth to take the tops off of the two different kinds of snack cups I bought for him. I came across Munchie Mugs and asked if they would let me do a review of their product. I was so pleased when they agreed to not only let me do a review, but a giveaway too!!!

I got my Munchie Mug in the mail about a week ago, and I haven't gone back to my other snack cups once!!! This mug is AWESOME!!!

When you get your Munchie Mug in the mail it comes with the mug, a "kid-proof" top, and a lid.

The "kid-proof" snacking top screws on -- meaning -- my little one can't just pull it off!!!! It has two pieces of super durable fabric that form the top. Your little one can get their hand in, grab their snack, and pull it out! The snacks won't spill out - like in other snack cups!!

It also comes with a screw on lid so that your food stays fresh when your little one isn't snacking! How genius is that!?!?!?

Another GREAT thing about this product -- not only does it meet all the Federal Mandates for products that come in contact with food, but it is SO DURABLE!!! My son has dropped/thrown his around so much... and it has completely held up!! (A great thing for any mom -- we all know how many times toys/cups/anything gets thrown around!!)

Here is what my house looks like now:

He wouldn't have been allowed to snack on my couch until now!!!
(BTW - My son usually has shorts on! He had just woken up from a nap and was having a snack with Mickey! )

(Loves his Munchie Mug too much to put it down -- even for his nightly bottle!!)

Here are the details about this spectacular - Mom sanity saving - snack cup!!!

They are only available in one design for now, but in 3 different colors. The design is extra cute too!!

Have 2 boys or 2 girls?? No prob. The Munchie Mug has a spot on the screw on lid for you to write your child's name!

Now for the best part -- a chance to win a Munchie Mug of your own!!!

Here's how to enter!
