Do you remember where you were and what you were doing 10 years ago when you heard the news?
Do you remember where you were and what you were doing 10 years ago when you heard the news?
I was working for a BIG theatre company in the home office in Beverly Hills, CA at the time. I remember watching footage of the first plane hit the first tower as I got ready for work in the morning. On the drive in to work I listened to the radio as the second plane hit, and then the two towers fell. I will NEVER forget how I felt that day. So helpless for those who were killed, so scared for what the rest of the day might bring.
Last night my hubby and I talked about where we were and what we remember most about that day. For me, it was my drive home from work. Those in my office building were at work for only a few hours when the big wig company owners called a staff meeting in a screening room that I didn't even know existed! Then they told us all to go home. The freeway was virtually empty {which us unheard of anywhere in L.A. at any time of the day or night}.
I had the radio on and I can remember exactly where I was on the freeway when the song "I am Proud to Be and American" started to play. It was probably the first time I had actually cried listening to a patriotic song. Flash forward through the last 10 years... every time I hear that song, it brings back those feelings of pride knowing that no matter what happens in this country, we are all proud to be an American!
I hope we can all take a few moments of our day today to remember those who sacrificed their time and their lives to helping those affected by the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. I am so thankful for the efforts that were made that day and the over the last 10 years who have helped to keep our country safe.
